Ey Türk gençliği!
Birinci vazifen, Türk İstiklâlini, Türk cumhuriyetini, ilelebet muhafaza ve müdafaa etmektir. Mevcudiyetinin ve istikbalinin yegane temeli budur. Bu temel, senin, en kıymetli hazinendir. İstikbalde dahi, seni, bu hazineden, mahrum etmek isteyecek, dahilî ve harici bedhahların olacaktır. Bir gün, istiklal ve cumhuriyeti müdafaa mecburiyetine düşersen, vazifeye atılmak için içinde bulunacağın vaziyetin imkan ve şeraitini, düşünmeyeceksin! Bu imkan ve şerait, çok nâmusait bir mahiyetde tezahür edebilir. İstiklâl ve cumhuriyetine kastedecek düşmanlar, bütün dünyaya emsali görülmemiş bir galibiyetin mümessili olabilirler. Cebren ve hile ile aziz vatanın, bütün kaleleri zapt edilmiş, bütün tersanelerine girilmiş, bütün orduları dağıtılmış ve memleketin her köşesi bilfiil işgal edilmiş olabilir.Bütün bu şeraitten dahi elîm ve daha vahim olmak üzere, memleketin dahilinde, iktidara sahip olanlar gaflet ve dalâlet ve hattâ hıyanet içinde bulunabilirler. Hattâ bu iktidar sahipleri şahsî menfaatlerini, müstevlilerini siyasî emelleriyle tevhit edebilirler. Millet fakr-u zaruret içinde harap ve bitap düşmüş olabilir. Ey Türk istikbalinin evladı! İşte, bu ahval ve şerait içinde dahi, vazifen; Türk istiklal ve cumhuriyetini kurtarmaktır! Muhtaç olduğun kudret, damarlarındaki asîl kanda, mevcuttur!

O Turkish youth!
Your first duty is to preserve and defend the independence of the Turkish nation and the Republic of Turkey forever. This is the sole foundation of your existence and your future. This foundation is your most precious treasure. Even in the future, there will be internal and external enemies who will seek to deprive you of this treasure. One day, if you are compelled to defend your independence and your Republic, you must not consider the circumstances and conditions in which you may find yourself before undertaking your duty. These circumstances and conditions may appear extremely unfavorable. The enemies who seek to undermine your independence and Republic may be the representatives of an unprecedented victory throughout the world. By force and by deceit, all the fortresses of your beloved homeland may have been seized, all its shipyards occupied, all its armies dispersed, and every corner of the country actually invaded. Worse and more grievous than all these conditions, those who hold power within the country may be in heedlessness, misguidance, or even treachery. Furthermore, those in power may unite their personal interests with the political ambitions of the invaders. The nation may be impoverished, exhausted, and devastated. O child of the Turkish future! Even under such circumstances and conditions, your duty is to save the independence of the Turkish nation and the Republic of Turkey. The power you need exists in the noble blood flowing through your veins.
