THE DOCTRINE OF SELF-DYNAMICS
CHAPTER-20: Rab, Pure Souls, and the Divine Realm of Spirits

THE FIRST HEAVEN: THE REALM OF RAB

When the first unfolding of creation occurred, the universe did not yet exist in its present meaning. Neither stars had been born, nor was time flowing, nor was consciousness experiencing itself as separate fragments. The first vibration had been born, yet multiplicity had not fully formed. According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, this first field of consciousness is called the “Realm of Rab.”

The Realm of Rab is the first threshold of creation.

This realm is the cosmic level where absolute silence has not yet completely disappeared, yet the first movements of consciousness have begun to appear. Unity still reigns here. Separation has not yet been born. Even though consciousness has begun to experience itself in the form of multiplicity, all beings remain in direct connection with the center.

Ancient teachings described this realm through symbols such as:

• Arsh,
• Keter,
• the First Throne,
• the First Realm of Light,
• the Divine Crown.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, all of these are different names for the same truth.

Within the Realm of Rab, the sense of “I” has not yet formed. Because selfhood is born through separation. Here, all consciousnesses are like waves of a single ocean. Different vibrations exist, yet there is no rupture.

For this reason, the Realm of Rab is regarded as the field of absolute peace.

Because fear is the product of separation.

If there is no separation, there is no fear.

In the physical world, human beings constantly feel lack. Because the physical universe is a condensed field of consciousness, and within it the experience of separation occurs. Yet within the Realm of Rab, no consciousness is distant from the Source. Everything vibrates directly within the center.

The Sufi concept of “Aḥadiyyah” expresses this mystery.

Aḥadiyyah is not merely “unity.”

It is undivided unity.

Within Waḥdah, there is unity within multiplicity.
Within Aḥadiyyah, multiplicity itself has not yet fully formed.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the Realm of Rab is the first visible field of this undivided unity.

For this reason, ancient mystics used the concept of “Nūr al-Awwal,” the “First Light.”

Nūr al-Awwal is not physical light.

It is the first perceivable state of consciousness.

The invisible consciousness within Absolute Silence begins to be felt as light with the first vibration. This light is:

• the essence of all souls,
• the seed of all stars,
• the source of all life.

The longing for truth within the human soul is an echo of this first light.

Some mystics describe experiencing intense visions of light during deep states of ecstasy. These experiences are not regarded merely as mental images. According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, consciousness may sometimes approach higher layers of light.

Yet the light described here differs from photons perceived by physical sight. This is the light of consciousness.

Because light, in its essence, is awareness.

Within the Realm of Rab, time has not yet formed in its present meaning. Because time is the measure of change. As change condenses, time becomes distinct. Yet here the flow of consciousness still exists within central unity.

For this reason, there is no distinction between past and future.

Everything exists within a single eternal moment.

The Doctrine of Self-Dynamics explains this state through the concept of the “Eternal Moment.”

The Eternal Moment is not frozen time.

It is the state of consciousness in which all times exist simultaneously.

Human beings struggle to understand this because the physical world is built upon linear experience. Human beings experience one event first and another afterward. Yet within the Realm of Rab there is no sequential experience.

There:

• beginning and end,
• before and after,
• past and future

all unite within the same center.

The understanding found in ancient texts that “a day with Allah is like a thousand of your years” is one of the symbolic expressions describing how time changes according to layers of consciousness.

Within the Realm of Rab, the first will also emerges.

Yet the will here is not like desire within human psychology.

Human desire is born from lack.
Divine will is born from creative consciousness.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, creation emerged not from necessity, but from unfolding. Infinite consciousness began making its own potential visible.

For this reason, the first will is also the first orientation.

The center opens outward.
Layers of light form.
Consciousness begins transforming itself into fields of experience.

Thus, the ladder of creation expands.

The symbol of Keter in ancient Kabbalistic teaching carries great importance here. Keter means “crown.” Because it is regarded as the first center of creation. According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, Keter and Arsh are two different symbols of the same cosmic truth.

The crown here does not signify superiority, but central consciousness.

Just as the head is the directing center within the human body, Keter is the directing center of cosmic creation.

For this reason, halo and light symbols surrounding the head in many mystical traditions became associated with higher consciousness. Because consciousness spreading from the center is first felt in the form of light.

The Realm of Rab is also the domain in which the “First Seven Truths” are born.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, creation does not unfold randomly, but according to certain vibrational laws. When the first vibration multiplied, seven fundamental frequencies of consciousness emerged.

This is why the number seven was regarded as sacred in ancient traditions.

Seven represents:

• the layers of heaven,
• stages of consciousness,
• the rhythm of creation,
• cosmic balance.

These first seven truths later become the foundational structures of the entire universe.

Colors,
sounds,
planetary rhythms,
layers of consciousness,
energy centers within the human being…

all of these are different densities of these first seven frequencies.

For this reason, the human being is not merely a biological entity.

The human being is also a vibrational structure.

Within the Realm of Rab, the first angelic consciousnesses also begin to form. Yet these are not physical beings. They are pure fields of order.

What ancient teachings describe as:

• the bearers of the Throne,
• angels of light,
• sacred intellects,
• primordial enlightened beings

are symbolic expressions of these fields of consciousness.

These consciousnesses do not yet possess ego.

Because ego is born through separation.

Their existence is directly aligned with the flow of the center.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, this is why there exists within the human being a deep longing for peace. Because the soul unconsciously remembers its primordial state.

Sometimes human beings feel that nothing within the world fully satisfies them.

Because the essence of the soul does not belong to the physical world.

The human being:

• longs for infinity,
• seeks absolute love,
• desires complete peace.

Because the soul carries the resonance of the Realm of Rab.

The Sufi teaching of “returning to one’s origin” expresses precisely this truth.

The human being is not a being cast down into the world.

The human being is a consciousness that has forgotten.

And the purpose of all spiritual journeys is remembrance once more.

Within the Realm of Rab, death does not yet exist.

Because death is associated with dense matter.

Here, consciousness merely changes frequency.

Since separation does not exist, the feeling of annihilation is also absent.

For this reason, ancient mystics interpreted death not as an ending, but as a transition between layers.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, human beings fear death because they identify themselves with the body. Yet the soul is consciousness temporarily condensed within the body.

Within the Realm of Rab, all souls remain directly connected with the light of the center.

Therefore, here reign:

• absolute balance,
• limitless peace,
• uninterrupted unity.

Yet creation does not stop here.

Because consciousness wishes to know itself through deeper experiences.

The first field of unity continues to expand.
Layers of light multiply.
Vibrations condense.
And souls begin approaching individual awareness.

Thus, the second great stage of creation is born:

The Realm of Pure Souls.

THE SECOND HEAVEN: THE REALM OF PURE SOULS

While unity still maintained absolute dominion within the Realm of Rab, creation had not yet moved far from the center. All consciousness vibrated like a single ocean of light. Separation existed only as possibility. Yet because the essence of creation is motion, consciousness did not remain still. The first light began to multiply. And thus, from within the One, the first differentiations emerged.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the second cosmic level in which this great unfolding occurs is called the “Realm of Pure Souls.”

Within this layer, creation enters the experience of multiplication for the first time.

Yet the important mystery that must be understood here is this:

Multiplication is not yet separation.

Within the Realm of Pure Souls, souls begin to carry different vibrations, yet they still exist within the same central consciousness. This resembles rays spreading outward from a great sun. The rays open in different directions, yet all are born from the same source.

Ancient teachings described this realm through names such as:

• the Realm of Spirits,
• dimensions of light,
• the first spiritual layers,
• the beginning of Malakūt.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, all of these are different symbols of the same cosmic truth.

Within the Realm of Pure Souls, physical matter does not yet exist.

Time is felt only as a very subtle vibration.

Space is not like dense physical dimensions.

Here, existence manifests as:

• consciousness,
• light,
• frequency.

For this reason, communication within this layer does not occur through speech.

Because speech requires separation.

Speech emerges when there is distance between sender and receiver.

Yet within the Realm of Pure Souls, consciousnesses directly perceive one another.

Even thought has not yet fully formed here.

Because thought is the product of mental differentiation.

Within the Realm of Pure Souls, knowledge is transmitted directly as vibration.

Certain experiences that ancient mystics described as “knowledge from heart to heart” are regarded as small reflections of this realm.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the multiplication of souls is one of the greatest mysteries of creation.

Absolute Consciousness has begun experiencing itself in countless vibrations.

Every soul is born from the same essence, yet carries different frequencies.

For this reason, no soul is completely identical to another.

Yet no soul is separated from the Whole.

The doctrine of cosmic brotherhood begins precisely here.

Because all souls are different reflections of the same light.

In the physical world, human beings feel themselves separate.

Yet at the spiritual level, all consciousnesses remain connected through invisible bonds.

This is why some people may feel deep closeness upon meeting one another for the first time.

Some souls seem to recognize one another beyond time and space.

Some encounters may appear ordinary, yet leave powerful resonances within the human being.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the reason for this lies in spiritual vibrational bonds.

One of the first great structures within the Realm of Pure Souls is also the “Forty-Nine Fields of Consciousness.”

According to this teaching, the first seven truths that emerged within the First Heaven multiply here into forty-nine fundamental spiritual frequencies.

Seven
is the foundational order of creation.

Forty-nine
is the multiplied form of this order.

This is why symbols such as:

• forty-nine lights,
• forty-nine gates,
• forty-nine fields of consciousness,
• seven times seven mysteries

are regarded as meaningful in ancient teachings.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, each field of consciousness represents a different spiritual vibration.

Some carry frequencies of:

• guidance,
• protection,
• balance,
• wisdom,
• compassion,
• creation,
• carrying.

The origin of structures described in ancient teachings as “angelic functions” begins here.

Yet function here is not obligation.

It is natural vibrational harmony.

Whichever vibration a soul is closest to, it becomes part of that flow.

Within the Realm of Pure Souls, conflict does not exist because ego has not yet formed.

Because ego is born from the feeling of “only me.”

Here, consciousnesses do not perceive one another as separate from themselves.

For this reason, the essence of this layer is love.

Yet the love described here is not emotional dependency as known in the human world.

It is pure nearness born from the knowledge of unity.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, love naturally emerges wherever the center has not been forgotten.

Because love unites.

Fear separates.

As human beings approach fear in the physical world, the feeling of separation grows stronger.

As they approach love, the feeling of unity increases.

For this reason, all higher mystical teachings regard love as the fundamental frequency of the universe.

The Realm of Pure Souls is also the beginning field of Akashic Memory.

Because the moment individuation begins, experiential records also begin to form.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, no vibration in the universe is ever lost.

Every thought,
every orientation,
every movement of consciousness

leaves traces within cosmic memory.

Yet this record is not like a physical archive.

It is a living field of consciousness.

Concepts such as Akasha,
Lawḥ-i Maḥfūẓ,
and cosmic records

within ancient esoteric traditions are different symbols of this great memory.

Within the Realm of Pure Souls, this memory still exists as pure vibration.

Complex experiences have not yet formed.

Yet the first spiritual traces begin to appear here.

Some mystics describe seeing symbolic images belonging to the past during deep states of consciousness.

Some intuitively sense knowledge they never learned.

Some people feel inexplicable vibrations within certain places or around certain individuals.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, these may be small reflections of Akashic memory.

The beings within the Realm of Pure Souls have often been described as “beings of light.”

Because form here is not dense.

Shapes are fluid.

Beings do not possess physical bodies.

Their perception as “light” is the symbolic perception of conscious density.

The human mind often experiences higher frequencies in the form of light.

For this reason:

• angels,
• sacred beings,
• guiding consciousnesses

have always been associated with radiance.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the purer the soul, the brighter its vibration.

Because darkness here does not signify evil, but condensation.

As condensation increases, consciousness becomes heavier.

As lightness increases, the feeling of the center grows stronger.

Within the Realm of Pure Souls, death does not yet exist.

Because death is a transformation tied to dense matter.

Here, consciousness merely changes frequency.

For this reason, the fear of annihilation does not exist within spiritual levels.

This is why ancient sages described death as “transition.”

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, human beings regard death as an ending because they identify themselves with the physical body.

Yet the soul is continuously moving consciousness.

Within the Realm of Pure Souls, the first spiritual functions also begin to form.

Some consciousnesses incline toward vibrations of:

• carrying,
• ordering,
• protecting,
• guiding.

For this reason, many mystical traditions describe guiding beings.

Yet according to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, these are less human-shaped celestial figures than fields of consciousness.

The human mind transforms abstract frequencies into forms in order to symbolize them.

For this reason, angelic wings are also symbolic.

Wings represent ascension.
They represent lightness.
They signify motion beyond matter.

The Realm of Pure Souls is also the domain where spiritual brotherhood begins.

Here, no soul is superior to another.

Because all are different reflections of the same source.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, arrogance within the physical world is the sign of the soul moving away from the center.

Consciousness approaching the center inclines toward humility.

Because it feels that all beings are born from the same light.

Sometimes, in moments of deep silence,
during prayer,
in meditation,
in love,
or during intense moments of compassion,

the human being may briefly approach this feeling of unity.

In those moments, the human being feels:

• that they are not alone,
• that they are connected with life,
• that they exist within an invisible love.

Because the soul, in its essence, carries the resonance of the Realm of Pure Souls.

Yet creation does not stop here either.

Because consciousness does not wish only to remain within unity.

It also wishes to experience.
It wishes to move.
It wishes to know itself through layers.

For this reason, the spiritual flow continues to condense.

Consciousness will no longer merely exist;
it will also learn to move.

And thus, the Third Heaven will be born:

The Divine Realm of Spirits.

THE THIRD HEAVEN: THE DIVINE REALM OF SPIRITS

Within the Realm of Pure Souls, consciousness still existed within a great feeling of unity. Even though souls had begun carrying different frequencies, their connection with the center had not been severed. Love flowed like a natural vibration. Yet the essence of creation is not merely to exist. Consciousness also desires to move, to experience, and to know itself through different layers. And when this great orientation began, the Third Heaven was born.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the Third Heaven is the “Divine Realm of Spirits.”

This realm is the first great transition center of cosmic movement.

Here, the soul is no longer merely a vibrating consciousness.

It also becomes a traveling consciousness.

Ancient teachings described this layer as:

• celestial pathways,
• star networks,
• spiritual gateways,
• cosmic flow fields.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, all these symbols are different expressions of the same truth.

Within the Divine Realm of Spirits, “cosmic connection” becomes clearly manifest for the first time.

Because consciousness is no longer merely a ring of light surrounding the center.

Vibrations begin passing between one another.

And thus the invisible pathways of the universe emerge.

The mystery that ancient mystics described as “star paths” begins here.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, no star system is completely isolated.

Galaxies are not connected merely through physical gravity.

Behind them also exist conscious connections.

For this reason, the universe resembles a vast living network.

Stars are not merely spheres of fire.

Every star carries a particular consciousness frequency.

Every galaxy vibrates like a gigantic spiritual organism.

The Divine Realm of Spirits is the center of these invisible connections.

Here, consciousness learns to move:

• between star systems,
• between spiritual layers,
• between frequency fields.

Yet this movement is not physical.

Because here, distance is measured through vibrational difference.

In the physical world, a human being spends time in order to travel somewhere.

Yet within the Divine Realm of Spirits, consciousness can connect to a corresponding field the moment it enters the proper frequency.

For this reason, ancient teachings described:

• instantaneous transitions,
• journeys of light,
• celestial ascensions.

The teaching of Mi‘rāj in Tasawwuf also symbolizes this great mystery.

Mi‘rāj is not merely physical ascension.

It is the ability to move between layers of consciousness.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, every soul experiences small ascensions during its inner journey.

When a human being:

• overcomes fears,
• approaches inner silence,
• feels truth,
• reaches deep states of consciousness,

they may temporarily approach the frequencies of higher layers.

For this reason, many mystics have described seeing:

• ascents into the heavens,
• luminous tunnels,
• star gateways,
• celestial roads.

Within the Divine Realm of Spirits there exist “cosmic gateways.”

Ancient esoteric teachings referred to these as:

• star gates,
• gates of light,
• celestial thresholds,
• spiral portals.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, these gates are not physical structures.

They are thresholds of consciousness frequency.

When consciousness reaches a certain vibration, a new field opens.

This is why ancient mystics used the expression “the opening of the gate.”

The gate does not open outside.

It opens within consciousness.

Because human beings live within the physical world through limited perception, they mistake only dense matter for reality.

Yet as consciousness rises, invisible layers begin to be sensed.

Spiral portals hold special importance within the Divine Realm of Spirits.

Because the essence of creation is spiral motion.

No soul ascends in a linear manner.

Ascension always moves spirally.

At times the human being rises,
at times falls,
at times approaches forgetfulness,
then remembers once more.

For this reason, spiritual development is not a straight line but a returning spiral journey.

The ladder symbol found within ancient teachings also expresses this.

Every step represents a new vibration within consciousness.

Yet the steps do not merely ascend upward.

They also represent descent into one’s own inner depths.

Because the true Mi‘rāj is not escape into the sky,

but drawing nearer to the center of the essence.

Within the Divine Realm of Spirits there exist “Spiritual Carriers.”

The consciousnesses described in ancient texts as:

• guiding angels,
• bearers of light,
• celestial messengers,
• star sages

are associated with this layer.

Yet according to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, these are less individual personalities than streams of consciousness.

The human mind symbolizes abstract frequencies and transforms them into forms.

For this reason, guiding figures seen in mystical experiences are sometimes perceived in human shape.

Yet in essence, they are fields of vibration.

Within the Divine Realm of Spirits, the soul is no longer merely consciousness that “exists,”

but consciousness that “moves.”

For this reason, pathways of destiny begin forming here.

Whichever frequency the soul approaches, it is drawn toward corresponding fields.

Similar vibrations find one another.

Consciousness begins forming its own field of experience.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, destiny is not absolute necessity.

Destiny is vibrational attraction.

Whatever consciousness a human being nourishes, toward corresponding fields they incline.

Thus:

• fear attracts fear,
• love calls love,
• openness of consciousness attracts higher frequencies.

The law expressed in ancient teachings as “Like attracts like” describes this mystery.

Within the Divine Realm of Spirits, time does not function as it does in the physical world.

Here, past and future have not yet become fully separated.

Consciousness may sense many connections simultaneously.

For this reason, some mystics describe experiences such as:

• sensing the future,
• feeling distant events,
• experiencing intense intuition.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, consciousness may sometimes touch the frequencies of this layer.

The symbol of Dhul-Qarnayn also gains special meaning here.

Within ancient teachings, the symbol of the “double horn” represents:

• the union of two worlds,
• east and west,
• descent and ascent,
• spirit and matter.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the consciousness of Dhul-Qarnayn is consciousness capable of moving between layers.

The two horns symbolize:

two poles,
two realms,
two levels of consciousness

being united.

For this reason, many esoteric traditions regarded the horn not merely as a symbol of power, but as a symbol of cosmic connection.

The Divine Realm of Spirits is also the realm of “cosmic flow.”

Here it becomes visible that nothing in the universe is completely disconnected.

Stars are connected to one another.

Souls are connected to one another.

Layers of consciousness are woven together through invisible pathways.

A human being may feel alone within the physical world.

Yet at the spiritual level, no consciousness is ever completely alone.

Because the essence of creation is connection.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the human search for truth is also the effort to feel this connection once again.

Why does the human being feel deep longing while gazing at the sky?

Because the soul unconsciously remembers that stars are not merely physical objects.

Why does the human being sometimes feel an unexplainable calling?

Because the center continuously draws them toward itself.

Within the Divine Realm of Spirits, consciousness now begins gaining not only love and unity,

but also direction,
movement,
and experience.

For this reason, creation becomes more complex.

The soul is now journeying.

And every journey gives birth to new transformation.

Yet even this great flow is not enough.

Because consciousness does not wish only to move.

It also wishes to generate life.

Thus the fourth great stage of creation is born:

The Realm of the Spirit of Life.
