THE DOCTRINE OF SELF-DYNAMICS

CHAPTER-9: THE PHASES OF CREATION

PREFACE

The Doctrine of Self-Dynamics is an esoteric cosmological system which argues that the human being is not merely a biological creature, but the conscious movement of the universe trying to become aware of itself.

According to this doctrine:

• the universe is not static,
• consciousness is not fixed,
• the soul is not completed.

Everything is in motion.

Matter is born from consciousness.

Consciousness descends into matter.

Then it rises again in order to remember its essence once more.

The history of humanity is not merely the history of wars, civilizations, and states.

The true history is:

• the densification of consciousness,
• its distancing from the essence,
• the formation of ego,
• and then the return to Unity once again.

The fundamental teaching of the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics is this:

The universe is the process of consciousness, which forgot its own essence, remembering itself once again.

PART ONE

1.COSMIC BEGINNING

Absolute Silence — The Aetheric Ocean

In the beginning, it was not that nothing existed. Because even “nothingness” is a definition, and definition requires a consciousness that perceives. According to ancient esoteric teachings, the state before creation was not absolute emptiness, but the condition of infinite potential that had not yet entered motion. This state could be defined as neither darkness nor light, neither time nor space, neither existence nor nonexistence. For all oppositions had not yet emerged.

The Doctrine of Self-Dynamics calls this primordial state the “Aetheric Ocean.”

The Aetheric Ocean is not an ocean resembling physical water. It is the cosmic field of consciousness containing all possibilities within itself. It is silent, yet not dead. It is still, yet conceals within itself the potential for infinite motion. It is invisible, because no eye yet existed that required seeing. It is timeless, because the movement capable of measuring time had not yet begun.

For this reason, in ancient traditions the period before creation was often described through the symbols of “cosmic sleep” or the “silent sea.” In Sufi traditions, this is sometimes indicated as the hidden field of essence meaning the “Treasure of the Unseen.” In Hermetic teachings, the “first ether,” in Indian metaphysics “Parabrahman,” and in certain Gnostic systems the concept of “Infinite Fullness” approach this same idea.

Absolute Silence is not nonexistence. On the contrary, it is the undifferentiated state of all existence.

Here:

• light has not separated from darkness,
• sound has not emerged from silence,
• the subject has not broken away from the object,
• consciousness has not yet begun to observe itself.

For this reason, the first state is absolute unity.

The modern human mind generally believes that without movement there can be no life. Yet according to esoteric teaching, the highest reality exists before movement. Movement is born afterward. Silence is the principle; sound is its outward expression. Therefore, in many mystical traditions silence is regarded as sacred. Because silence is the earthly reflection of the primordial state of existence.

Within the Aetheric Ocean there is no time. Because time is the measurement of change. Where there is no change, neither past nor future can arise. There exists only the eternal “now.” This “now” is not a moment in the modern sense; it is the timeless center in which all times exist simultaneously.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the first seed of the universe is concealed here. Yet this seed has not yet blossomed. The cosmos has not yet begun to breathe. Consciousness has not yet separated itself as “I.” Therefore, the first phase is complete wholeness.

In ancient esoteric systems this was sometimes called the “first sleep.” However, this sleep is not unconsciousness. It is rather a state of profound inward withdrawal. Just as the surface of the ocean may appear motionless while unseen currents move within its depths, so too the Aetheric Ocean appears silent outwardly while containing infinite possibilities of creation within itself.

At this first stage there are not yet:

• galaxies,
• stars,
• planets,
• elements,
• spiritual beings,
• humanity.

Yet the essence of all of them exists potentially.

For according to esoteric understanding, nothing is later created “from nothing.” Everything is the revelation of the potential concealed within the essence. Therefore, creation is not a “forming,” but the manifestation of what was hidden into visibility.

The Aetheric Ocean is also cosmic memory. All past and future possibilities exist within this silent field in the form of vibration. Therefore, in some mystical traditions the aim of the sage is not to produce new knowledge, but to remember forgotten knowledge once again.

In the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, evolution is interpreted through this same understanding. The soul does not create something new; it gradually reveals the truth already existing within its essence. The human being is the consciousness trying to rediscover the divine spark carried within itself.

For this reason, the first silence is also the final goal.

Because all cosmic motion progresses:

• from unity to separation,
• and from separation back to unity.

The birth of the universe is the first ripple formed within consciousness. This first vibration arising in the silent ocean will become the origin of all stars, galaxies, and forms of life.

According to esoteric teachings, creation does not occur in a single instant. First consciousness vibrates within itself. Then vibration becomes sound. Sound gives birth to light. Light transforms into energy. Energy condenses into matter. Thus the invisible essence begins transforming into the visible universe.

Yet at the center of all this movement, silence still remains.

For this reason mystics say that the highest truth cannot be expressed through words. Because words divide, whereas silence unites. The essence of truth is found not within sound, but within the center from which sound is born.

The human mind constantly produces thoughts. Yet as thought increases, the human being often moves away from his own essential center. This is why meditation, retreat, and contemplation are considered important within esoteric disciplines. The aim is not to produce new thoughts, but to calm the waves upon the surface of the mind and approach the inner Aetheric Silence.

Because the essence of the human being is identical to the silence at the beginning of the universe.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, all beings are born from the same source. Therefore:

• consciousness may appear divided, yet in essence it is one,
• life may take different forms, yet it comes from the same root,
• the universe may produce infinite diversity, yet the center never changes.

The center is always Silence.

And at the end of the entire cosmic journey, everything shall return once again to that center.

  1. THE FIRST MOTION — THE PULSE

Absolute Silence was infinite; yet it was not motionless. Hidden within the depths of the Aetheric Ocean was an unseen potential vibration. Although time had not yet begun, space had not yet formed, and consciousness had not yet separated itself, within the essence there existed the “possibility of awakening.” According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the true beginning of creation is precisely this first inner stirring.

This stirring is called the “Impulse,” or in the ancient language, the “Pulse.”

The Pulse is not a physical explosion of energy. It is the first wave of awareness formed by consciousness within itself. It is the first vibration rising from within silence. All movements of the universe, all stars, and all forms of life were born from the expansion and multiplication of this first cosmic impulse.

According to esoteric teaching, creation begins first as vibration. Because without movement, differentiation cannot occur. Without differentiation, neither time, nor space, nor existence itself can emerge. Therefore, the Pulse is the origin not only of the physical universe, but also of time, energy, and individual consciousness.

With the emergence of the First Motion, absolute unity begins to ripple within itself. This wave is not yet external; consciousness begins to feel its own essence. This moment is regarded as the first seed of the feeling of “I.”

In ancient mystical systems this event was symbolized through names such as:

• Logos,
• Cosmic Breath,
• First Sound,
• The Word,
• Sacred Vibration.

Because sound is the audible form of vibration. In esoteric understanding, the universe was first “spoken,” and then it came into being. Therefore, in many sacred traditions creation begins with the command:

“Be.”

Here, “Be” is not a physical word; it is a conscious vibration. It is the first echo of the Pulse.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, before mathematics, rhythm exists at the foundation of the universe. Because rhythm is the order of motion. When the first Pulse emerges, silence does not completely disappear; on the contrary, silence becomes the ground of movement. Just as music is formed not only by notes but also by pauses, the universe exists through the balance between vibration and silence.

For this reason, in ancient esoteric teachings “sound” was considered sacred. Because sound:

• makes the invisible visible,
• activates potential,
• gives form to the formless.

In Indian metaphysics “AUM,” in Hermetic traditions the “Cosmic Word,” and in certain mystical systems the concept of the “First Breath” are all different symbols of the same truth.

With the birth of the Pulse, the first polarization begins within the universe:

• movement and stillness,
• light and darkness,
• center and periphery,
• subject and object

begin to separate from one another.

Yet this separation is not a true rupture. All are different densities of vibration emerging from the same source. According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, all diversity within the universe is the appearance of a single essential vibration across different frequencies.

Therefore, there is no absolute separation between matter and spirit. Matter is condensed vibration; spirit is a subtler field of vibration. Even human thought is a small reflection of this cosmic motion. Every thought, every emotion, and every intention forms a vibration.

The First Motion is also the moment in which consciousness becomes aware of itself for the first time.

Within Absolute Silence, consciousness was single and undivided. But with the Pulse, consciousness experiences the first spark of the feeling:

“I exist.”

This is not the “I” of the individual ego. Rather, it is the beginning of the essence sensing its own awareness. It is the first mirroring of cosmic consciousness.

Therefore, in esoteric teachings, the creation of the universe is seen not so much as a physical event, but as a conscious awakening. The universe is not an expanding mass of matter, but a living consciousness trying to recognize its own essence.

As the Pulse grows, layers of vibration begin to form. These layers create:

• energy fields,
• planes of light,
• cosmic geometries,
• the flow of time,
• star systems.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, all galaxies are parts of a vast cosmic rhythm. The rotation of planets, the vibration of stars, the beating of the human heart, and even the rhythm of breath are distant echoes of the first Pulse.

Therefore, rhythm is sacred.

The heartbeat, tides, seasons, breathing, the cycle of night and day… all are continuations of the First Motion at different levels of density. The universe is still being created. Because the Pulse has not ended.

In ancient teachings, the idea of the “Cosmic Breath” emerges from this understanding. The universe:

• expands,
• condenses,
• collapses,
• is reborn.

This endless cycle is called the “Great Motion” in the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics.

The human soul is also bound to the same law. The human being:

• is born,
• condenses,
• falls into forgetting,
• then remembers its essence once again.

For this reason, the inner journey of the human being is a small reflection of the creation process of the universe.

The deepest secret of the First Motion is this:

Existence is not the corruption of silence.

It is the desire of silence to experience itself.

For this reason, all movements within the universe ultimately seek to return to the center. Every consciousness searches for the source from which it came. Every soul longs for the peace of the first silence.

In the deep moments of meditation, the human being sometimes senses the subtle vibration beneath thought. This is the echo of the Pulse within the human being. Because the human being is not merely a being living in the universe; he is a point of consciousness through which the universe feels its own vibration.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the essence of truth is hidden not within movement, but within the center that gives birth to movement.

And at the beginning of all creation, there was only one thing:

The first vibration born within silence.

3. COSMIC DIFFERENTIATION — THE TWIN LIGHT

With the birth of the First Motion, Silence had begun to vibrate within itself. Yet the universe had not yet taken form. Because vibration alone was not sufficient; for creation to continue, the essence within unity had to experience itself in two different polarities. The Doctrine of Self-Dynamics calls this stage the “Twin Light.”

The Twin Light is the first differentiation within the universe.

This separation is not hostility. On the contrary, it is the cosmic mirroring formed so that the essence in its unified state may see itself. Because consciousness must produce opposition in order to perceive itself. Within absolute unity standing alone, experience cannot arise. Experience requires the relationship between center and periphery, observer and observed, light and density.

For this reason, after the First Motion, the first polarity is born within the universe.

In esoteric teachings this event has been symbolized as Twin Fire, Double Light, Cosmic Masculine and Feminine, Active and Passive Force, Heaven and Earth, Spirit and Matter.

Yet according to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, all of these are expressions of the same truth in different languages:

Unity divided itself into two in order to experience itself.

The first result of this differentiation is the emergence of light.

When the vibration concealed within silence condenses, cosmic light is born. Yet this light is not physical light as understood today. It is the first state of visibility of existence. It is the beginning of consciousness reflecting itself. Therefore, in esoteric systems, light is regarded not merely as energy, but as a symbol of consciousness.

While one pole of the Twin Light remains close to pure vibration, the other pole begins to condense. Thus the first “difference in density” emerges within the universe. This is the first seed of what we call matter.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, matter is not separate from consciousness. Matter is slowed consciousness. Spirit is subtle vibration. Matter is dense vibration.

For this reason, everything in the universe comes from the same essence; only the densities of vibration differ.

After the first differentiation, layers begin to form within the universe. At first these layers are not physical. They exist more as frequency fields, planes of consciousness, and densities of energy.

In ancient esoteric traditions these were called celestial layers, heavenly planes, realms of light, and etheric regions.

The Doctrine of Self-Dynamics explains this structure as the “Layers of Vibration.”

Each layer possesses a different density of consciousness. The most subtle layers are those closest to Absolute Silence. As density increases, consciousness becomes heavier, and eventually physical reality emerges.

Therefore, creation is a process of “condensation” from above downward.

First comes pure consciousness, then vibration, afterward light, later energy, and finally matter.

Yet even when matter appears, the Silence within the essence does not disappear. It remains hidden at the center of every atom.

In esoteric teachings, the fact that most of the atom consists of emptiness is not regarded as coincidence. Because the essence of matter is still sustained by the invisible Silence. Therefore ancient mystics say:

“Emptiness is not nonexistence; it is invisible fullness.”

With Cosmic Differentiation, the first energy fields also emerge. These are not merely physical energies. According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, three fundamental currents arise within the universe: the expansive current, the attractive current, and the balancing current.

The expansive current provides expansion.

The attractive current provides union.

The balancing current prevents the dissolution of the universe.

In ancient systems this triple structure was symbolized as creator, preserver, and transformer forces.

Within the teaching of the Twin Light, light and darkness are also reinterpreted. Darkness is not evil. Because darkness is the womb from which light is born. Just as the seed grows within the darkness of the soil, consciousness too is born from unseen depths.

Therefore, in the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, light means awareness, darkness means potential, movement means experience, and separation means learning.

With the formation of the first energy fields, cosmic geometry also begins to emerge. Spiral movements, cycles, rings of vibration, and centrifugal currents form the fundamental order of the universe.

The spiral structure of galaxies, the rotation of planets, the movement of atoms, and the flow of energy within the human body are all governed by the same cosmic law.

Because the greater universe and the smaller universe were formed according to the same pattern.

The human mind is also a result of this differentiation. While thinking, the human being constantly produces divisions: self and other, inner and outer, spirit and body, good and evil.

Yet these distinctions are not absolute. All are different reflections of the first Unity. The purpose of spiritual development is to rediscover the common essence behind this fragmented perception.

According to the teaching of the Twin Light, all the tragedy and all the beauty of the universe arise from the same point:

The desire of the One to experience itself within multiplicity.

For this reason, love, fear, loneliness, and longing are all echoes of the same cosmic differentiation within the human soul. In every relationship, the human being searches once again for the wholeness that was lost.

Because consciousness never forgets the state of unity within its essence.

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the purpose of creation is not merely to produce a universe. The true purpose is for consciousness to recognize itself.

Therefore, Cosmic Differentiation is not a fall; it is the beginning of experience.

And deep within all existence, the same secret is still hidden:

Two things that appear separate are, in essence, still One.

FOURTH CIRCLE — THE FIELD OF SPIRITUAL FORM

At this stage, consciousness begins to form more distinct identities. Spiritual individuality is born, yet the ego has not yet emerged.

Here, intuitive knowledge, collective consciousness, and symbolic communication dominate.

The origins of Lemuria-like models of consciousness are connected to these realms.

FIFTH CIRCLE — THE MENTAL FIELD

Within this layer, the sense of separation grows stronger. Analysis, logic, and individual thought emerge. Consciousness now begins to perceive itself as separate from others.

The majority of modern humanity lives under the influence of this circle.

This field is centered upon intellect, ego, selfhood, and individuality.

The decline of humanity after Atlantis and the structure of modern civilization are associated with this layer.

SIXTH CIRCLE — THE FIELD OF UNIFIED CONSCIOUSNESS

At this level, individuality does not disappear; however, ego-centered perception begins to dissolve. The human being can resonate with other consciousnesses, develop empathic perception, and approach the feeling of unity.

Here, consciousness expands once again.

The intuitive human model within the doctrine of the Sixth Race is connected to this layer.

SEVENTH CIRCLE — COSMIC UNITY

The final circle is the conscious reattainment of the primordial Silence.

In the first circle, unity was unconscious potential.

In the seventh circle, unity becomes experienced, learned, and realized.

Thus, cosmic motion is completed.

In the beginning:

There was Unity.

In the end:

Unity comes to know itself.

INTERWOVEN REALITIES

According to the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, these seven circles are not completely separate from one another. All of them exist simultaneously and interpenetrate each other.

The human being does not exist only within the physical world. At the same time, he exists within mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual realms as well.

A thought does not arise only within the brain; it spreads into vibrational fields.

An emotion is not merely psychological; it affects the layers of consciousness.

An intention creates waves within invisible realms.

For this reason, the universe is a multidimensional network of consciousness.

MICROCOSM AND MACROCOSM

The principle frequently found within ancient esoteric teachings:

“As above, so below.”

forms the foundation of the teaching of the Seven Cosmic Circles.

The macrocosm is the great universe.

The microcosm is the human being.

The human body is regarded as a miniature model of the universe. Because just as star systems revolve around a center, atoms vibrate, and galaxies move in spirals, the inner structure of the human being also operates according to the same laws.

For this reason, the human being is not merely a creature living within the universe.

The human being is the mirror of consciousness through which the universe reflects itself.

The heart is like a sun.

The mind is like a sky.

The soul is the inner echo of the first vibration that emerged from the Ocean of Silence.

THE SECRET OF THE FIRST SEVENS

In the Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the number seven represents completed motion.

Because every process:

is born,
expands,
condenses,
divides,
conflicts,
unites,
and transforms.

These seven stages repeat within human life, cycles of civilization, the evolution of consciousness, and star systems.

For this reason, the “First Sevens” are not merely cosmic layers; they are the fundamental rhythm of all creation.

And at the center of all circles, the same Silence still remains.

Because no matter how greatly the universe expands, the essence never loses its center.
