According to The Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the history of humanity is not a linear movement, but a cyclical movement of consciousness. In the beginning, humanity existed in a state of pure unity. Then it descended into dense matter, developed the individual self, forgot its essence, and is now beginning to return once again to the source.

This process is symbolically explained through the “Schema of Self-Dynamics.”

The schema is an esoteric map of transformation showing humanity’s descent from light into matter, and afterward its ascent back into the consciousness of light.

1. THE FIRST ESSENCE — ABSOLUTE UNITY

Fundamental Characteristics

• There is no separation
• The sense of time and space has not yet formed
• Consciousness exists in a collective structure
• Light dominates
• There is no ego

According to The Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the beginning of creation is the stage of the “First Essence.”

At this stage, humanity is not yet individual.

The first two primary races represent this stage.

Humanity does not yet possess a dense physical body.

• The people of light
• The phantom races
• The light humans
• The shadow bodies

In this age:

• The perception of death is different
• Bodily transformation is possible
• Consciousness functions directly through energy

However, individual awareness has not yet developed.

3. DESCENT INTO MATTER — THE BEGINNING OF SEPARATION

• Condensation of matter
• Gender distinction
• Birth of the individual self
• Seed of intellect
• The first spark of ego

With the third primary race, humanity approaches dense matter.

The spinal system becomes active.

The symbol of the “Tree of Good and Evil” appears.

• The forbidden fruit
• The fall
• The serpent
• The first union

Are symbols of this period.

According to The Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, humanity here departed from essential unity and entered individual experience.

4. ATLANTIS AND THE AGE OF POWER

• Energy technologies
• Open third eye
• Giant civilizations
• Spiritual powers
• Expansion of the ego

The fourth primary race represents the Atlantean period.

Humanity attained knowledge of energy.

It was capable of using the forces of nature.

But when power separated from wisdom, the great fall began.

5. MODERN HUMANITY — THE AGE OF EGO

The fifth primary race is present-day humanity.

The third eye has largely closed.

The sixth primary race is the transitional period.

Humanity begins once again to feel the invisible connections.

• Technology and consciousness will reunite once again.
• Humanity will cease warring against nature.

7. THE AGE OF LIGHT — RETURN TO THE ESSENCE

• Transparent consciousness
• Dissolution of the ego
• Divine unity
• Energy body
• Cosmic balance

The seventh primary race is the great completion.

Humanity approaches its essence once again.

But this time:

• Not with unconscious purity,
• But with awareness gained through experience…

• The World of Light
• The Cosmic Human

Are symbols of this stage.

According to The Doctrine of Self-Dynamics, the final purpose of humanity is:

• And the Age of Light…

All are stages of the transformation of human consciousness.

Because the true movement occurs not in the outer world, but within the human being oneself.
